My NYSC Chronicles (page 1)
Haha. That's the only worthy opening word I can use after one year away. Cause I'm a joke.
I promised I'd resume on here once NYSC commences because I felt It'd be eventful, and what woulkd I be if I can't be a man of my word?. So here we are.
In my defense I didn't post for so long cause I wasn't particularly having eventful days. I had a few every now and again but too far apart to sufficiently keep a personal blog afloat. So on that note I want to say I'm not sorry. It is what it is. 💀
Whilst I'm at my shalaye. I also had to be off to focus on my life. Yunno try to learn real life skills cause the only thing that scares me than 9-5 jobs is how close the age I'm turning this year is to 30. Lmao guys. Potbelly, baldhead, 2 kids 30!!. I might be being a little dramatic here, it's not like I'd be 30 by the break of dawn but the fact that I'm closer to it than I am 18 is just unthinkable. Me!!??. I'm aware it sounds crazy to sound this surprised cause what did I expect to happen?. Age backwards?. But 'even tho...'
Anyhoo going by the giant texts above this is supposed to be my NYSC Chronicles not 'bitch about my life' chronicles, if you want to see that segment we should see in person I have a lot to get off my chest.
NYSC is already rough guys and I'm still like 3 weeks away from camp or so. To kick start this beautiful experience my department did not upload our final semester results. This was unbeknownst to me. Cause, quite frankly I don't care. I don't know what any of my grades are in Any specific courses, just know what class the cgpa falls in and with no carryover and that's all the info I'd ever need. However, the class governor from my set called to inform me (as per 'ex-faculty president').
Apparently he needed his final results for something urgent. I didn't bother to ask but it must have been something along the lines of a job or a scholarship application. Mind you this was January 2022, we completed these exams around June/July 2021. Hahaha Laugh with me.
I started to call the Dean. Okay I didn't call I texted. It was urgent but nobody was dying so didn't pass as urgent enough for a call in my books(I hateee calls). Long story short. The man and I went back and forth and he was just shook. The issue was apparently from the department (just us in the entire school lol) and so he got the HOD involved. He said they'd resolve it in less than a week. I gave it a full week. Nothing happened. At this point I actually had to call. The man was even shooker than before (I know this is not a word, but just leave me). He spoke to the HOD again I related the feedback to my 'colleagues' and again it was a promise that it'd get resolved. On the D-day some of my classmates fueled by trust issues mobilized and went to the department to monitor the process.
And then the department dropped another shocker. They said they didn't have fuel. (Surprisingly all the trust issues my guys took along couldn't power the generator. Wow) and so my 'colleagues' had to contribute to get diesel if they wanted it done ASAP.
(Tbh this is like the most ghetto thing I have heard in my time in the school). They did and now that's out of the way. Typing this line now I realize I didn't even text the Dean to say thanks lol.
Fast forward to seeing our names on the Senate list and going for registration. There wasn't really anything eventful. Just the registration form itself. Bruh that form is just emergency number after emergency number. Are we going to war?. Is there something these people aren't telling me?.
Why do we have 'emergency in case of death'?. What could possibly kill one in 3 weeks orientation camp?. Marching?. E no really clear please. I reluctantly filled it as I muttered 'I won't die in Jesus name'. Cause erm.. God forbid.
In addition I sneakily filled that I have visited a number of northern states in other to dissuade them from posting me there (haha emi ika).
To be honest everyone that goes to the north says it's calm and peaceful but lol I'd rather not, off the off chance that every single one of them have been lying to me.
In conclusion, I was told we'd get our posting 2 days before we are required to arrive at camp which is just an absolutely brilliant thing to do. I mean..
This part isn't much of NYSC chronicles as it is me generally bitching about things. Hopefully we'd get to a more specific bitching in the next part when I must have arrived camp. Thanks for enduring this.
Just checking this. Fascinating bro. A whole lotta savour
