Were our ancestors dullards?.

 

While writing this I changed my mind like 4 times. I had my opinion but decided to research a bit. I know the blog is called "in my opinion" and so should be from my point of view but I can't be speaking out of my ass lol.

While researching I saw some solid points that changed my perspective. And so I paused. A little while after that nonsense election went down in Ugandan and I had another change of heart. Finally Nigeria banned crypto trading and I just lost it.

But I just decided to do this story anyways.

Sometime in December I was at a modelling rehearsal with some of my friends and we got talking about music, education, politics, movies. You know how it goes na, random vibes. And you guys trust to always know something about everything (even if it's very obsque). So we got into this talk and somewhere in trying to get to a point I just said "see, our ancestors were dullards". People went "ahhhh"

(you know it's a strong take). But if you know me you'll know I won't gree. So I opened up the emergency back up file of "did you know" facts in my head and started dropping bars. I think I was able to convince them or at least tire them out 😂.

So I decided to write about it. Were our(I'd be assuming you're african) ancestors dullards?. Let's look at it from the perspective of discoveries and inventions or creations. We aren't leading in any of those things at the moment. We were the first to write though (at least the Egyptians) and that's a massive W. Asides that they weren't any major accomplishments by Africans in ancient times. And even now although we could blame our present woes on the European invaders. 

But look at where we were before they arrived and where we are after they left. I don't think we'd be doing much better than this if they never arrived.

One time in the course of writing this I realised there's no "million" in the Yoruba numerics I don't know about other tribes. So I thought to myself. This people never had a cause to count past thousands? At all?.

Seemed like a simple minded people who just never ventured to do anything colossal.

Then I went back to the Sphinx, pyramids 

and dams 

of ancient Egypt then I thought to myself "these are big". Only ancient architectural piece I can think of off the top of my head that beats these is the great wall of China (which is just unrealistic).

You'd notice my points are back and forth. Well that's exactly how my view on the topic is.

I decided to carry out a little research before condemning all our ancestors as dullards. And I found out that there are a myriad of accomplishments by ancient African civilization but are somehow not talked about as much as their European counterparts'. These were really advanced discoveries in astronomy, architecture, MATHEMATICS!!(I thought that was an Asian thingy), tool making, medicine ( look it up). All sort of things by ancient Africans.

I then noticed that the accomplishments were always credited to some alien specie by the Westerners who researched this kind of stuff and hence are the reporters. Whatever they said became law, even to us Africans on such issues. They couldn't fathom how such "backward tribes" conceived such advanced theories.

However, whenever ancient China or Europe discovered or created something it was just intelligence or ingenuity. I began to sense a pattern. Somewhere I realised that what spectacular things did the ancient Europeans have?(well asides massive wars, the Stonehenge, the Colosseum and some temples in Greece). 

All their creations or discoveries came within about a few hundred years ago I think. When they might have stolen stuff from other people and paraded it as theirs' 

or learnt off us and taught it to themselves. I mean there's no great wall of Paris from 1474 AD or pyramids of London from (2603-2578 B.C.). So were the European ancestors the dullards?. But I digress.

Back to my point. If we really were that ingenious and intelligent how were we then tricked into slavery with mirrors and other trivial objects?

(lol it's just really hard to pick a side here). However, I can't prove that Africans were robbed of discoveries before the slave trade era. And I cannot prove how we lost our grip and didn't become world powers (probably just lack of ambition and complainsance) but I know if we had all that knowledge we shouldn't be this way now.

I could go on forever but let me round up by saying. Whatever genius ancient Africa possessed does not reflect in how we live now. We don't make any of those ground breaking discoveries anymore(at least not as often as Europeans) and all we can see is a backward state ruled by power hungry loonies(I mean they banned crypto in 2021)that care about nothing but themselves

(although the colonial era is still taking it's toll on us till this day). The Europeans and Asians on the other hand seem to have figured out the basic theories of cooperation and leadership and so seem to be in charge of the world.

Going by their descendants (us), our ancestors win this dullard race by a mile but going by history (which is greatly tainted and distorted, as in the case of the Ethiopian Emperor that defeated Italian invaders and was then potrayed as a white man by Westerners so people don't know a black conquered whites(yea you guessed right this is why Ethiopia wasn't colonized)) Europeans seem the less intelligent group by discoveries (All of the European creations(except the Stonehenge) I mentioned above including even the Great wall were built hundreds of years after the Sphinx). But what they lacked in intelligence they made up for in manipulation and perhaps ability to replicate. Finally I'm not longer convinced our ancestors were dullards(it's probably what they want us thinking though), our generally regressive thinking as a continent doesn't buttress that point very much but the Europeans weren't spectacular till more recently either.
